  1. This is sad and beautiful. I especially loved how it ended, and the similes are all so striking (after the first line, I was wondering how the piece could possibly bring off the “money genitalia” image in a way that would have integrity, but it really did). I have a friend who is in the midst of killing herself with drugs, and I have often felt some of the same things you write about with such skill (and pungency). Thank you very much for this. I mean it.
